Celebrating 25 Years
This month sees inkdesign hit a milestone birthday – 25 years. A lot has changed over that quarter century!
We began, like many small companies, around the kitchen table with one project and an idea. The kitchen table was at Maurice and Lisa’s flat in Shawlands, followed by a move into the garden studio, before our first Briggait space in 2013.
Our timeline of projects
We’ve picked out 5 projects to highlight a selection of work over these years, one of each being conceived in the 5 different offices we’ve had. Year 1, right through to year 25!

2005-2010
The conversion & extension of WW2 Gun Emplacements to form 4 detached houses, Hamilton

People
We’ve worked with so many creative and inspiring people during this time; talented team members past and present, many of whom have come to us at the very infancy of their architectural journey, as part of their university studies. Carlo, our Design Director, helps foster an atmosphere of understanding and development and we’ve most recently congratulated Lewis on becoming a Chartered Architect.
Key to success has been our commitment to working collaboratively with other companies and we’re proud to say that many of these relationships date back to when we first began back in 2000.
Our clients have pushed us continually forward during these 25 years, just as we’ve encouraged them to push past the norm and embrace the potential of their projects. We are always thankful for the trust placed in us. As a thanks, we aim to celebrate our birthday by giving away a prize during the upcoming months so make sure you’re signed up to our mailing list and look out for more information coming your way…
Reflection
As we reflect on our 25th birthday, we’ll be forever grateful to Ian Hickey, for sparking Maurice’s interest in architecture at such a young age and for encouraging Lisa with work experience while at school. He is greatly missed.
More than ever, we still firmly believe in the mantra of ‘what doesn’t challenge you, doesn’t change you’, and so we look forward to bringing you exciting, deliverable architecture for many years to come.
Thank You.
