Architects behind new proposals for Govan Graving Docks

2018 is set to get off to an exciting start for Glasgow Architectural practice, inkdesign. Jim McColl’s Ferguson Marine Engineering have submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to Glasgow City Council; a proposal which aims to bring Govan Graving Docks back to life, reinstating them as a ship repair and maintenance yard, as well as a celebration of Glasgow’s long maritime history.

As the agents behind the proposal, inkdesign have been involved in the development of the project from the beginning. Director, Maurice Hickey, comments:

“This is an exciting time for Glasgow, and inkdesign. For the practice to be involved in this hugely ambitious project is fantastic and a great opportunity for the City and Scotland. The Govan Graving Docks site is of national significance and this proposal will help preserve the last, and perhaps greatest, symbol of the Clyde’s shipbuilding and maritime heritage. In addition, the proposed social and economic benefits for the local community and the city will be massive. As the lead consultants for the project we are continuing to work on the proposals for the whole site and look forward to presenting them to the public in the New Year”.
